Whilst ladies have had the traditionally well-established and hugely popular Race for Life events, the Race4MenGloucester was started in 2009 by a Gloucester man when one of his close friends was diagnosed with bowel cancer. This race was aimed at men and complimented the Race for Life. The event has grown year on year since 2009 and has contributed nearly £100,000 to Cancer Research.
In 2017, 280 men and boys ran, jogged and walked around the 5k and 10k courses with over £15,000 in funds raised. This went to aid research to help fight cancer. Race4Men is run by volunteers under the auspices of Cancer Research UK and participants will be encouraged to raise individual sponsorship through a JustGiving page.
In 2018, we are pleased to inform participants that the race will be open to both male and female entrants of all ages. We are hoping that this will encourage families and groups to join us. Also, we will be running a Kids 1k dash on Plock Court before the main event. All kids running the dash will be awarded a medal.
There will be attractions and entertainment for everyone around the event so come along and enjoy the day.
