While ladies have had the well-established and hugely popular Race for Life events for many years, the Race4MenGloucester was only started in 2009 by a Gloucester man when one of his close friends was diagnosed with bowel cancer. This will be the 8th year it has been held and over the last 7 years it has contributed nearly £100,000 to cancer research. Each year the event has grown and grown with last year 280 men and boys running, jogging and walking around the 5k and 10k courses. Last year over £15,000 profit was made and all of this went to aid research to help fight cancer. Race4Men is run by volunteers under the auspices of Cancer Research UK and participants will be encouraged to raise individual sponsorship through a JustGiving page
